WAIMAIRI POWER

Gty Council Writ

The City Solicitors have been instructed by the City Council to issue a writ claiming £35,000 from the Waimairi County Council for street-lighting charges over the last three, years. Instructions were given last week for the writ to be issued, Cr. H. P. Smith, chairman of the finance committee said, and the county council should receive it in due course.

Cr. Smith was commenting on a report of a Waimain council meeting, at which the chairman (Mr J. I. Colligan) said that no effort had been made to force his council to pay. A substantial part of the time lag had been accounted for by the wait for the hearing of proceedings issued by the county council, Cr. Smith said.
