Soccer Gained Credit In Defeat

(N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, May 22 The New Zealand under-15 soccer team, which is reaching the end of its Australian tour, went down, 1-4, to a combined high school eleven at Sydney on Wednesday, but still finished the match with credit. The combined team was virtually an under-17 XI and included a number of players who have been selected to tour New Zealand with an “open grade” high school team in August and September.

The goal scorer for the tourists was R. Gowans. Otago Protest A strong letter of protest from Otago was received at this week’s meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association. It expressed disapproval in the continued action of the council in not giving touring teams a game in Dunedin The letter .-sked that the registration fee of 10s be reduced for Otago players. Mr O. Hilton, a council member, said: “The registration fee has nothing to do with touring teams.”
