Seven Debutantes At Ball At Lincoln

Seven debutantes, wearing traditional long white gowns, were presented to the Minister of Transport (Mr MeAlpine) and Mrs MeAlpine at a ball held by the Lincoln High School Old Pupils’ Association in the Lincoln Community Centre last ‘ evening. The host and hostess for the evening, Mr and Mrs E. J. Stalker, presented the debutantes. On behalf of the association Mrs Stalker gave each debutante a posy of red roses and carnations made by a former pupil of the school, Mrs J. Sloan. The debutantes, who were trained by Miss J. Blackmore, were: Misses C. Carter, Y. Craw, V. Dunlop, F Findlay, K. Hewitt, G. Payne, H. Payne. They made their entrance Into the main hall through the pages of a large imitation

book, pausing momentarily as if in a photograph, before walking up the red carpet, patterned in the school emblem—a gold fleur-de-lis. Specially invited guests included Mr and Mrs McAlpine, the patron of the old pupils association (Mr C. Harris) and Mrs Harris, members of ‘the board of governors, P.T.A. representatives, and Mr and Mrs E. J. Stalker. Mrs McAlpine wore a fulllength gown of blue crystalline shot with pink, made with a straight frontpanel gathered to fullness at the back. The fitted bodice bad a square neckline and her gown had a matching stole. Mrs Stalker chose a fulllength gown of green peau-du-soir with a round neckline to the draped bodice. The skirt, with a straight front panel, featured box pleats and an inverted pleat at the centre back.

Mrs M. Blanche, wife of the president of the ball committee, wore a straight fulli length grown of royal blue satin with a deep square neck- , line to the moulded bodice, i At the centre back the skirt was made with an inverted; pleat folding over rouleau' j bows.
