RAPISTS TO BE WHIPPED

Three boys who admitted raping a 19-year : old girl were ordered in the Adelaide Criminal Court to receive two whippings of six strokes each. One boy, Harmut Klaus Dier, aged 18, was gaoled for three years and the others— Peter Noel Gregory, aged 17, and Warren Cates, aged 16— were ordered to be detained in an institution for two years.
Mr Justice Mayo ordered the whippings subject to medical advice that they were not likely to affect health.
