HYDROFOIL FOR AUCKLAND.—The 19-ton hydrof oil Manu-wai which has arrived in Auckland by the Norwegian freighter Talleyrand. It cost £100,000 and will carry 72 passengers between Auckland and Waiheke Island, in the Hauraki Gulf, for the Kerridge-Odeon-controlled Waiheke Shipping Company. The hydrofoil was mounted on cradles on the forward deck of the ship during the five-week journey from Messina, Sicily.
