Steam Plant In Full Use (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 7. The Meremere steam power Station' is being used at full capacity, about 171,00 Q k.w.„ to cope with a rising demand for power throughout the North Island and in an effort to maintain the level of Lake Taupo, the main power storage lake. All six boilers have been in use since summer overhauls were completed last week.

. The level of Lake Taupo has been steady for some weeks. Colder weather on Wednesday brought a sharp rise in power demand. The half-hourly peak occurred at. 5.30 p.in. when demand was 1,277,600 k.w., only 36,800 k.w. less than the highest peak last year.
