N.Z. Pianist In London To Marry Soon

Miss Mary Scott, formerly of Dunedin, who has had a distinguished career as a student of music in Britain will marry an English electronics engineer in Surrey in July. Now completing her fourth year at the Royal Academy of Music in London, she has already gained her L.R.A.M. (piano), A.R.C.M. (violin) and A.R.C.M. (viola). Miss Scott recently won the special cup for a piano recital at the Ilford Music Festival, where she also won three medals. Important Recital She was awarded three cups also at a Stratford Festival, gaining 92 marks for one piece by Debussy. Miss Scott won two medals for piano and one for viola at the Willesden Festival. She will perform soon in her most important recital so far, at Hastings on the south coast, with Margaret Peckham, an English mezzo-soprano She will present works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin. Debussy, Ravel, Bartok, and Khatchaturian. In Norway last year Miss Scott passed an audition for playing on Oslo television, but she returned to England before it cbuld be arranged More recently a concert pianist has recommended her for 8.8. is studying for his final examinations in electrical engineering at University College, London. He has had an article published in a technical magazine on transistorised capacitator testing, his.own invention. He hopes to have published also an article on a car-ignition analyser of his own design. Last year be spent eight weeks doing specialised work in telecommunications in Norway during which he invented a test instrument for telephones.
