Halkett Red Cross

The Haikett sub-centre of the Red Cross Society made donations of £l5 to the North Canterbury centre for a street appeal, £ll for the Red Cross centennial appeal. £3 for Malaya. £5 for milk powder, and £2 for Christmas parcels for aged persons last year. This was reported at the recent annual meeting. Parcels were sent to the Red Cross in Fiji and 12 parcels were sent to Templeton Farm School. Items sent to the North Canterbury centre for distribution included apples, eggs. jam. quilts and clothing Officers elected were: president. Mrs J. D. Henderson: vice-presidents. Mesdames E. Thomson, A. H. McKay, and R Henderson: secretary. Mrs E. Pascoe: treasurer. Mrs G. B Hayes: sewing convener. Mrs W. M. Wilson: committee. Mesdames K. R. Wilson. A. B Calder. C. S. Pascoe, M. P. Rasmussen. D. McKay. W. D. Henderson.
