Table Tennis Record Set
(N.Z Press Association) WANGANUI, May 3. Two Wanganui competitive table tennis players, Bernard Lane and Malcolm Spencer, today broke the world record for marathon table tennis by pushing, poking, prodding, and occasionally slamming the ball for 35 hours 20 minutes at the Wanganui East Town Hall.
Lane and Spencer started the marathon at 6 p.m. on Friday and finished at 5.20 a.m. today. 40 minutes after breaking the record standing to the credit of a New Lynn (Auckland) group.
