(N.Z.P.A.-Reut.er —Copyright) BIRMINGHAM, May 1. Britain won both opening singles to lead Austria, 2-0, in their European zone Davis Cup first round tie yesterday. W. A. Knight beat D. Herdy, 6-0, 6-4, 6-1, and R. Taylor beat E. Blanke, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. In Athens, Sweden beat Greece, 4-1, in their firstround tie.
