FALL TRAPS MINER
Held By Coal And Stones (N.Z Press Association) GREYMOUTH, April 29. A Dobson miner, Mr lan Wilson, of Herbert street. Greymouth, was almost buried in a fall of coal and stone in the mine at his working coal face at the Dobson State colliery yesterday morning. The only warning he received was a bumping sound. He was then bowled over by the rush of coal, stone and timbering. He was buried almost up to his shoulders. It took about three-quarters of an hour to extricate him. He was not struck on the head by any of the falling material.
His workmate, Mr David Owen, of Stillwater, who was working a short distance from the coal face, immediately told other miners and truckers. Mr Wilson was able to return to his home little worse for his mishap, apart from minor bruising, which he expects will keep him from work for only a day or two.
