300 INDEPENDENT CINEMAS IN N.Z.

Although a number of small cinemas have closed in New Zealand during the last 18 months, there are still more than 300 independentlyowned cinemas throughout the country. The president of the New Zealand Motion Picture Exhibitors' Association (Mr H. O. Hills) said the association’s membership comprised 98 per cent of the country’s cinema interests and included the two main Domin-ion-wide companies.
