Scramble For Shares CJV.Z.P. A.-Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, April 18. Shares in South Africa’s Sea Diamond Corporation closed at 23s 7jd yesterday at the end of a day of hectic dealings on the London Stock Exchange. • The offer of shares in Texan millionaire Sammy Collins’s three-year-old corporation had caused the wildest scramble for months when the exchange opened yesterday morning. Dignified black-coated city brokers pushed back their bowlers at the start and enthusiastically pushed and justled their way into the buying spree. Jobbers clambered on to chairs to deal with the surging crowd around them. Shares opening at 24s 9d had within an hour shot up to a sparkling 27s 3d. But the first lustre faded and they closed over Is down on the opening price. The corporation was formed to dredge diamonds and other minerals from the seabed off the coast of South West Africa. Business Personal Mr H. M. Minson, former general manager of Minsons, Ltd., will retire as services manager at the end of June after 40 years with the company. Mr Minson will retain his seat on the board. Mr J. M. Rodgerson, formerly accountant to the company, has been appointed secretary.
