Priority For Olympics
(N:Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 17. Although the grading priority trials at Easter by the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association for the Olympic Games were not entirely satisfactory, the association’s national council decided last evening the order of nomination would be the fours, eights, single sculls, double skulls and pair-oars. Although the council believes the eights and fours are worth priority nomination, it is expected that all the crews, with the possible exception of the Auckland Rowing Club four, will carry on with individual time trials. The chairman, Mr L. E. Brooker, said the 6min Msec recorded by the training squad eight in the trial would have won eight of the 11 Olympic gold medals since 1908.
He had seen the eight in action several times and was certain it would record a time of less than six minutes.
