Aust. State Games Off

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 17. The proposed matches between the North and South Islands and Queensland and New South Wales State sides will not be started this year. Dr. L. J. Cooney, the president of the New Zealand Rugby League, told the annual league conference today. Dr. Cooney said the council had received this information today and although the Australian board of control had agreed in principle to these matches, it had already made up its programme for the season and had not allowed for these games.

New Zealand had written to Australia last month seeking matches against the two Australian State sides during August.
