“NEW DEAL” WANTED

District High Schools (N.Z. Press Association) PAEROA, April 17. A plea for a “better deal” for district high schools was made to the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella) at the official opening of the new £46,000 assembly hall at Paeroa College today by Mr J. H. Thomas, chairman of the South Auckland Education Board, and members of the college board. Mr Thomas said he had watched the “agonies” of Paeroa College as it progressed from being a district high school. District high schools were the “Cinderellas” of secondary schooling, he said. Mr Kinsella said he realised that larger school facilities were much better. The provision of schools catering for pupils from fonn one to form six was the first step in help to district high schools.
