Unusual Saw Displayed

A power-saw modified for cutting injured persons from wrecked vehicles was demonstrated in Christchurch yesterday morning by a representative of the Swedish manufacturer. A volunteer “victim” was cut from a battered car within three minutes of the saw being applied. The implement is used by police and fire brigades in Sweden and by the United States Navy. The demonstration was at the intersection of Hereford street and Fitzgerald avenue before representatives of the City Council, traffic and police departments, the fire brigade, civil defence and the St. John Ambulance.
