Boy Walked Through Store Glass Door
A 12-year-old schoolboy, Stephen Wari-g, of 1 Brittan street, Lyttelton, walked through an Bft by 3ft 6ih glass door in a Hereford street department store yesterday afternoon. The door was shattered. The boy was knocked unconscious for a few minutes. He was taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital where his condition was later reported to be comfortable. “It is the fifth person in two years and a half who has walked through plate glass in this store—and none of them has been seriously hurt,” the branch manager of Woolworths, Ltd. (Mr L J. McCorquodale) said. “The door had paper strips on it One customer a year ago walked through a plate glass window, worth more than £l5O, near our other entrance. It had advertisements all over it
“Some people are always belittling the South Island. The accident to the schoolboy happened at 4.45 p.m. in a rush hour. We telephoned a glass firm and the door was replated in 27 minutes, ’’’hat is service which would leave the North Island for dead.”
