MAN AND WIFE INJURED

Struck By Car

An elderly couple were injured, the husband seriously, when hit by a car not far from their home when they were walking to an indoor bowls tournament last evening.

Mr H. M. Dann, aged about 72, a retired plumber, of 10 Buckleys road, suffered a suspected fractured pelvis and internal and head injuries. His wife suffered head and leg injuries. Both were taken to the Christchurch Hospital by ambulance. Mr Dann’s condition was later reported to be fair. Mrs Dann was reported to be satisfactory. The accident happened about 7.25 p.m. at the comer of Buckleys road and Russell street.

Any person who saw the accident is asked to get in touch with the motor accident branch at the Central Police Station.
