TO NAPIER

(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, April 7. Mr C. E. Evans, deputychief postmaster at Christchurch, will take up the post of Chief Postmaster at Napier on May 1. He succeeds Mr W. N. Taylor, who is retiring after 42 years’ service. Mr Evans began his career w’th the department at Napier as a message boy in 1926. Mr Evans was appointed deputy chief postmaster in Christchurch at the beginning

of 1962. He acted as liaison officer between district post offices and the central office, counselling postmasters and co-oidinating the services provided. Mr Evans is a former Hawke’s Bay Rugby representative and Wellington selector, and a well-known sportsman in other fields. He was educated at Napier Boys’ High School.
