TROTTING Phoebe Martial In Favour At Addington Today

Phoebe Martial is expected to give his part-owner and trainer, A* Purdon, his first win in the New Zealand Trotting Stakes at | Addington Raceway today. Phoebe Martial, which is out of Sure 1 hoebe, the dam of the New Zealand Hambletonian Handicap favourite, Harbour Light, has shown outstanding promise this season.

Phoebe Martial was a last start winner at the Rangiora meeting on March 3. Since then he has raced with distinction at trials and will strip a very fit horse for today’s engagement. The Pukekohe challenger, Paying Guest, looks certain to add interest to the race. He has shown splendid form in his home province and worked pleasingly last Tuesday. Paying Guest Is a brother to the Easter Cup Final candidate, Vanderford. He is to be driven by D. C. Watts, who has not yet been successful in the race. Remember When is a sister to Asia Minor, the winner of this race 12 months ago. Remember When might not be quite as solid as Phoebe Martial. but if she makes no mistakes, she could go close to giving her trainer, W. J. Doyle, his first driving success in the event.
