Improvements required by the Labour Department are to be made to workers’ facilities at the Christchurch

City Council’s Bottle Lake plantations. The department required the council to provide additional machinery guards to the firewood saw and provide “vast. Improvements” to the men’s: meal room, washing facilities and first aid equipment. Consequently the council agreed to authorise the preparation of plans for a proper staff room as well as other buildings necessary for the administration of the plantations. •
