Reconstituted Milk Not Favoured By Board
(New Zealand Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Mar. 23. The New Zealand Milk Board believes the public is not yet ready to accept the idea of reconstituted milk. The board’s annual report says the manufacture of milk powders has gradually improved to a position where it is possible for some of them to be used for preparing reconstituted milk of good quality . . . and with nutritional quality equal to that of normal whole milk. “In the opinion of the board, it would be unwise at this stage to risk breaking down what has been achieved
in order to get a possibly cheaper product to the public. Even though a good product can now be made, it is not yet indistinguishable from normal whole milk, and the board does not consider that we have yet reached the stage where the product would be generally acceptable to the public,” says the report.
