Kaituna Red Cross Meets
Mrs R. I. Brake (president of the North Canterbury Centre of the Red Cross Society) was the guest speaker at the recent annual meeting of the Kaituna sub-centre of the Red Cross. During the year 64 new garments, 32 used garments, peggy squares, six pairs of shoes, books, produce and 19 dozen eggs had been sent in to the centre, it was reported. Donations totalled £79, including £3O for the Centennial appeal. The following officers were elected:—President, Mrs S E. Patten; vice-presidents, Mesdames P. dePass, L. Cooper and Miss B. E. Coop; secretary, Mrs M. Willis; treasurer, Miss B. E. Coop; committee, Mesdames M. Marriot, E. Henderson, I. Humphrey, G. Burrows, A. Gray, L. Woods, B. Beach; Junior Red Cross supervisors, Mesdames M. Willis and J. Hodson.
Lap Record.—K. Grant (Wellington) set a new lap record for saloon cars of 59.3 sec. at the Levin racing circuit on Saturday. Grant, driving a Lotus Cortina, bettered his own record of 60 sec., set in January.—(P.A.)
