Riccarton’s total of 33 against Lancaster Park was the tenth lowest score recorded in senior cricket, but at least it was more than double the lowest total. That also was by Riccarton when it scored only IS against Sydenham in the 1911-12 season. * * * F. Madrusson, perhaps better known as a member of the Canterbury soccer team, achieved a fine cricket double on Saturday. He took five wickets against Lancaster Park for Xavier College to give him 100 wickets for his first XI and also brought him the double of 1000 runs and 100 wickets for his college.

After some very indifferent form for WestUniversity, B. R. Prestidge gave a glimpse of his true ability with an aggressive 59 runs against Old Collegians. Although inclined to be a little impetuous, he displayed a wide range of handsome shots, particularly the cover drive off the quick bowlers.

The young Sydenham opening bowler, P. Thomas, has enjoyed a fair measure of success this season and his seven wickets for 42 runs against

St. Albans was a fitting reward for a very hostile Spell of bowling. Next season, if he shows the same improvement, he could be very close to selection for Canterbury. ¥ ¥ ¥

Technical Old Boys’ performance in heading East Christchurch-Shirley on the first innings was noteworthy, but the club’s supporters must have gained some heart from the more aggressive batting shown on Saturday. J. Fox, who scored 64 in even time, started the resurgence by attacking the off-spinner, B. G. Adamson. Fox’s powerful driving and sensible use of the lofted drive brought him 11 fours and a six. It was one of the hardest hitting innings seen at Hagley Park this season.
