NOTHING AMISS

Examination Of Magician

A veterinary examination had revealed that there is nothing wrong with Magician. Magician’s Riccarton trainer, K. J. Thomson, decided to have Mr H. D. Greenwood’s Faux Tirage colt examined after he had raced badly in the Thompson Handicap on the first day at Trentham.

Magician, instead of running well, as expected, compounded badly and finished at the rear after running with the leaders to the straight in the Thompson Handicap. “Even the next day he was not himself,” said Thomson last evening. “But he has picked up well since arriving home. It just must have been one of his off-days.”
