SWIMMER OF THE YEAR
The captain of the Canterbury representative team which contested the recent New Zealand championships, W. R. Williamson, has been awarded the Cain Trophy, presented annually to the “Canterbury Swimmer of the Year.” This was announced by the president of the Canterbury Swimming Centre (Mr M. R. Duckmanton) on Saturday. Williamson is the present Canterbury backstroke record and titleholder and has been placed in the last three New Zealand championships. For the last two years he ha* been captain of the Canterbury representative team.
