Call For Direct Intervention

Mr Rauf Denktash, a Turkish Cypriot leader, said in London tonight that he had written to the Commonwealth Secretary (Mr Sandys) urging direct Bri-tish-Turkish intervention in Cyprus under the Treaty of Guarantee.
He told journalists he believed Greece would also agree to act under the treaty if Britain and Turkey did so.
Mr Denktash. president of the Turkish-Cypriot Communal Chamber, is in London on his way to Ankara from the United Nations He said he had also cabled U Thant, urging him to support action under the Treaty of Guarantee.
