World's Largest Tyres
The largest tyres In the world are reported to be in use on the Milford project near Kansas City, in the United States, where they are fitted to the world’s largest tractor. The tractor weighs 170 tons and stands 17ft high and does the work of about four of the largest track-type machines. Each of the 44.5 by 45 tyres is 10ft high, weighs
31001 b and holds an air volume equal to 130 average car tyres. The 47ft-long tractor took 10 months to build, and is powered by a 1650 horsepower diesel engine, which drives a generator. The generator drives a 400 horsepower electric motor at each tractor wheel, giving a top speed of 16 m.p.h. Turning circle is 75ft
