EVENING PARTY
Travel Club Entertains Mrs Victor Macky, who founded the travel club movement in Auckland, in 1933, was guest of honour at an evening party for delegates and visitors to the Dominion conference of the New Zealand Federation of Travel Clubs held last evening in the Winter Garden. Sir Joseph Ward, Dominion president, and president of the Canterbury branch, received guests, with Lady Ward. Lady Ward’s frock of mushroom - toned embossed brocade was styled with a slightly bloused bodice, the boat-shaped neckline of which was finished at the back with a Dior bow. Mrs Macky chose smokeblue lace over soft pink for her frock, which featured side panels of tiny pleats inset in the skirt. Artists who provided a programme of entertainment included Mr A. F. Gillett (piano and organ); Mrs Cara Cogswell (vocal); Mrs Christine O’Sullivan (monologue); Mrs A. Keen, Miss Ngaire Rodericks and Mr Bill Fox (dances): Edna Boyd Wilson • songs with Irish harp); Mrs E. A. O’Connor (instrumental); travel club committee (“Hie Pajama Game”). The compere was Mrs Read Masters.
