Ashburton To Be Venue Ashburton will be the venue for the South Island chess championships this year, said the secretary of the Ashburton Chess Club (Mr P. w _,Boag) yesterday. The dates for the matches will be the Queen’s Birthday week-end. The tournament will be held over five rounds, and will include three grades. About 30 entries are expected, most of which will come from Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill.
