CROWN LAND SOLD

19 Sections Realise £7500

Nineteen sections were sold for £7500 in a sale of Crown land by the Lands and Survey Department. Prices for individual sections ranged from £5O to £7OO.

A ballot was held by the Commissioner, of Crown Lands (Mr N. S. Coad) when several applications were received for eight of the 25 sections for sale. Preference was. given to applicants who intended to build permanent homes. The sections were the last acquired under the Land Subdivision of Counties Act which has been repealed, but normal Crown land sales Will continue. The next sale will be held in about two months when some sections in Bishopdale will be sold. Details of the sections sold:— Halswell—Three on Sparks road, Mr M. B. Finnerty at £2OO each; Cashmere road, Mr P. E. Wilson at £550; Ensign street,. Mrs A. S.. Bannister at £575. .

Hornby. Springs road, three applications, Mr D. E. Mcßae at £650.

Hillsborough. Lucienne place, five applications, Mr A. Atkinson at £675. The corner of Port Hills road and Brabourne street, Mr K. Le Comte at £350.

Huntsbury.—The corner of Centaurus road and View terrace, three applications, Mr G. R. Jamieson at £7OO.

Northcote. —Sturrocks road, Miss T. J. Farrelly at £6OO. Belfast.—Main North road, Mrs K. M. Gordon at £6OO. Amberley.—Cladon road, three applications, Mr J. F. McNamara at £250.

Oxford. —High strfeet, three applications, Mr W. A. Tomblin at £75; High street, four applications, Mr H. E. J. Black at £5O.

Akaroa.—Stanley place, Mr L.. J. Nottingham at £5OO. Timaru. —Grants road, three applications, Mr J. J. Stack at £6OO.

Geraldine. Lancaster street, Mr V. L. Turnbull at £l5O.

Waimate.—Point Bush road, two applications, Mr E. L. F. Walker at £75.
