Sportsman Will Attempt Triple Catch On Friday

TAURANGA, February 18. An American sportsman and television personality, Ted Williams, will begin his sportsman’s one-day mara- : thon on the game fishing grounds of Mayor Island on Friday. Williams and his party arrive in Auckland tomorrow and visit Rotorua for sightseeing on Thursday. On Friday Williams begins his attempt to land a game fish, catch a trout and shoot a deer within a 24-hour period. Besides Williams, the party will include Ed Murphy, a feature writer for an American magazine, and photographers from the National

Film Unit and the National Publicity Studios. They will fish from the Rarangi. The party will leave Tauranga on Friday afternoon. An amphibian aircraft will bo used to lift Williams and his party from Mayor Island waters to the Rotorua lakes, if this is practicable, immediately he has landed Hi* game fish he seeks. If this is not possible, Williams will make the transfer by launch and car. The organisers emphasise that Williams will conduct his entire effort within the bounds of regulations and customs which bind aril sportsmen, and will not use preferential grounds or waters.
