STRUCK OFF REGISTER
Accountants Disciplined
Three accountants have been struck off the register of the New Zealand Society of Accountants after hearings by the disciplinary committee of formal complaints preferred against the accountants by the investigation committee. The complaints were heard at a meeting on October 30 last. One accountant was found guilty of gross carelessness and gross neglect in the performance of his professional duties in connexion with accounting work conducted by him on behalf of a client.
The disciplinary committee ordered that the accountant's name be removed from the register of members of the society, but because of extenuating circumstances decided to withhold publication of the member’s name and locality.
The second accountant deregistered was found guilty of acts discreditable to an accountant while employed as a secretary of a company. Because of special circumstances. the committee decided to withhold the member’s name and locality.
The third accountant was found guilty of acts discreditable to an accountant. Because of special circunjstances. the committee directed that there be no publication of the member's name or locality, or the names of the other parties concerned in the case.
