New Zealand Shares Open Week Firmly

New Zealand shares made a firm start to the week with twice as many rises as falls. Overseas issues were in balance, with Australian leaders following an easier trend. New Zealand Refining rose to a further peak, gaining Is 3d to 38s 3d. Canterbury Frozen Meat regained Is to change hands at 39s 6<j. New Zealand Newspapers eased 3d to 61s 6d. Moves by overseas issues were narrow. Australian industrials A.W.A., A.C.I. and Boral were firmer, while B.H.P. and 1.C.1.A.N.Z. lost ground.
