Davies Happy With Run

(N.Z. Press Association)

HAMILTON, February 17. Tokoroa’s top-elass miler. J L. Davies, said yesterday he was disappointed at some of the critical comment about the mile race which he won at Eden Park. Auckland, on Saturday. in 4mtn 2.ssec. He said he was quite happy with the run.

Winning, not the time, was the primary object of the race, and when he was opposed by men of the calibre of P. G Snell and C. N. Weisiger. tactics were all-important. Davies said he was however, disappointed at the Eden Park track Big Effort

Davies is looking forward to producing a big effort at Seddon Park, Hamilton, on Saturday night when he and Snell will make a world record attempt on the 1000 metres. They were so disappointed at their unsuccessful attempt at Auckland on January 27, when Davies fell and Snell stopped, that they felt the need to make the attempt again. After the New Zealand championships will come Davies’s trip to Australia for a sponsored meeting and the Australian championships.
