'Higher Prices Yet To Come’

(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Feb. 17. New Zealanders had not yet felt the full impact of the 50 per cent sugar price rise, the retiring president of the New Zealand Master Grocers’ Association, Mr H. Jackson, of Wanganui, told the opening session of the association’s annual conference in Greymouth this morning. "We can expect a considerable number of further price increases in the near future as manufacturers are forced to recover extra costs,’’ said Mr Jackson.

“A sugar-beet industry for New Zealand is being freely discussed, and perhaps such a venture could well supply the answer to our needs. Dare I say that ‘Everything would be sweet again.’ ’’
