FELL FROM STAGING

Dredge Hand Injured

A dredge hand aboard the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s dredge Peraki suffered head injuries, bruises and shock yesterday afternoon when he fell about 30ft from a wooden stage, in the engine-room, to the plating. He is Michael Dineen, aged about 45, married, of 42 Winchester street, Lyttelton. He was attended by Mr E. G. Gealey of the Lyttelton sub-centre of the St. John Ambulance and by a nursing sister attached to the waterfront clinic.

After being taken from the engine-room by alpine stretcher, he was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by ambulance. The Peraki is under overhaul in the graving dock and the wooden stage had been erected for painting.
