Ryegrass Crops

A crop of short rotation ryegrass yielding 125 bushels to the acre and one of Italian ryegrass yielding nearly 107 bushels have been harvested on the property of Mr G. S. Sparks at Ladbrooks;. The Italian was harvested off five acres and a half which last harvest yielded 76 bushels to the acre of seed peas. The short rotation harvested off six acres and. a half was also in peas yielding 73 .bushels to’ the acre last season. . The two paddocks were shut up at the end of October after being' grazed by sheep and received no special fertiliser treatment. The grass was mowed and the seed was threshed in bulk by Messrs P. and B. McCarthy and was then bagged off in the paddock. The sample was a good clean one and it .is not expected that there will be much loss in dressing. The seed has been accepted as pedigree.
