QUEEN MOTHER’S VISIT

No Changes To Hotel No interior decorating will be done to the United Service Hotel for the Queen Mother’s brief visit on February 27. Her Majesty will have the guest lounge and private diningroom for a small luncheon party and the suite used by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh last year for the two hours she is at the hotel. A Christchurch retail furniture firm will lend the hotel furniture and carpet for the guest lounge and private diningroom as well as carpet to be laid from the foyer to the Royal car and for the balcony, where the Queen Mother will make a* appearance. “Nothing needs to be done to the suite as it is in very good order,” said Mr L- M. Gregory, relieving manager at the hotel, yesterday. Mr Gregory was manager at the Clarendon Hotel when the Queen Mother stayed there in 1958.
