North Canterbury MALVERN TENNIS

Three Teams Leading Three teams, Kirwee A, Kirwee B and Kimberley now jointly lead the Malvern tennis competition after the matches played recently. Courtenay, which had held a clear lead three rounds ago, is now one point behind the leaders with eight points. Since the previous round Kirwee A has gained two points. One of these was from a decision in a match against View Hill B, which was not played on November 9. It was decided at the recent half-yearly meeting that on that occasion the Kirwee team won by default. The other point was gained by beating View Hill B in the latest round. Kimberley had little difficulty in beating Courtenay and the final score was 10 matches to 6. Other wins were recorded by Kirwee B and Coalgate. Results were:— Kimberley 10, Courtenay 6. Kirwee A 9, View Hill 7. Kirwee B 9, View Hill 7. Coalgate 80, Barfield 77. Points to date are: Kirwee A 9. Kirwee B 9, Kimberley 9, Courtenay 8, Coalgate 5, Darfield 3, View Hill B 2, View Hill A 1.
