FRUIT CROP FORECAST

Nelson Record Expected (N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, January 24. The New Zealand Apple and Pear Marketing Board’s estimates indicated a record Nelson fruit crop, even though the national tally could be well down, the chairman (Mr J. H. Parker) told 120 growers art a provincial meeting in Mapua last night Mr Parker said that in 1962 a total of sm. cases were produced, of which about 2,460,000 came from Nelson. Last year the country produced 3,750,000 cases of which Nelson contributed 1,800,000. “Estimates for this year place the Nelson crop at about 2,470,000 cases. Although we have been worried about the weather and the way the fruit has been sizing, it could still be a very good crop,”' he said.
