Space Rocket Tests

(N .Z.P.A .-Reuter—Copyright)

MOSCOW, January 23. The Soviet Union has launched new and improved versions of space vehicle boosters into areas of the Pacific, Tass reported tonight. The Tass announcement tonight gave no clue as to the number of rockets fired or the distance they travelled. The “boosters” referred to are believed to be similar to those than can carry nuclear warheads up to 8000 miles, according to previous Russian claims.

The site of the present testing series is located roughly south of Wake Island and west of Midway Island, in the central Pacific. All shipping and air traffic has been warned to stay out of the area.
