Titmus, with a fighting 84 pot out in an innings that lasted more than four hours, helped England struggle to 233 against India on the third day of the second test. England, resuming at 144 for six, finished 67 runs behind India’s first innings total of 300. England, still without M. J. Stewart, who was detained inhospital, owed much to Titmus and J.
