Obituary MR F. P. WILSON

The death has occurred at Levin of Mr F. P. Wilson, who was professor of history at Victoria University for 15 years until his retirement in 1935. He was 89. Born at Timaru, Mr Wilson graduated M.A. at Victoria University College in 1905. He held various teaching posts under the Wellington Education Board from 1894 to 1909 when he became a lecturer in economics and history at Victoria. He was appointed professor in history in 1920. A member of the Victoria University Council from 1906 to 1909, Mr Wilson was chairman of the professorial board in 1926. In his earlier years, Mr Wilson was , a Wellington provincial tennis representative. He was president of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association in 1934-35. After his retirement, he became a keen bowler. Mr Wilson’s wife died in 1950.
