Violence In Calcutta
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) CAiLCUTTA, January 14. One person was stabbed to death and a few minor incidents were reported this morning in the curfew-bound area of Calcutta, but the situation in the city showed considerable improvement, police said. Indian troops and police last night intensified their efltorts to snuff out the flames of communal violence which have already resulted in 60 deaths. Police have arrested more than 3000 persons and imposed a round-the-clock curfew—with a two-hour break—on five areas of the city.
