Situation; An anti-cyclone in the north Tasman Sea is moving rapidly north-eastwards. A ridge extends southwards from it. This ridge is expected to cover the country today. Forecast: Canterbury: Light winds with north-easterlies developing on the coast; partly cloudy with mild temperatures this afternoon. Outlook: cloud increasing and rain developing. Marlborough and Nelson: Light winds; fine with rising temperatures. Outlook: cloud increasing with rain developing.
