Driver Narrowly Escapes Death . (N.Z. Press Association) W jusTPORT, January 13. A Karamea carting contractor, Mr Glenny Johnson, aged 22, narrowly escaped death cm Saturday when the truck he was driving and the bulldozer it was carrying hurtled 40ft into the swollen Karamea river. The road is reported to have given away seconds before the truck and its load plunged into the river. . Johnson escaped through the off-side door of the vehicle, of which only the roof was visible. The truck and bulldozer were salvaged yesterday.
