GENEVA TALKS
Labour Urges Seat For China (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) LONDON, January 12. The British Labour Party ■has formally proposed to the Government that the Chinese People’s Republic should attend the Geneva disarmament talks. This was one of the points made in a 1500-word document dealing both with general disarmament and partial measures submitted to the Foreign Secretary (Mr Butler) by the party last Wednesday and published today. to the document the party said it believed that “meaningful disarmament depend* on Chinese adherence to a disarmament agreement. This, in our view, requires her participation in the Geneva negotiations.” The 17-power disarmament conference is due to resume at Geneva on January 21. The Labour Party leader, Mr Harold Wilson, in a speech last week advocating a Labour six-point disarmament plan, suggested that China should be invited to the Geneva conference.
