Murder Charge Hearing

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, January 13. The preliminary hearing on a charge of murder against John Frederick Gillies, aged 30, a rigger, of Parnell, and Ronald John Jorgenson, aged 31, a workman, of Ponsonfoy, arising from the Bassett road double shooting last month, will start oh Wednesday in the Magistrate’s Court at Auckland. The police case will be conducted by the Auckland Crown prosecutor (Mr G. D. Speight), and is expected to last two days. More than 30 witnesses will be called. Gillies and Jorgenson, who were both arrested on New Year’s Eve, are charged with murdering Kevin James Sipeight, aged 26, a seaman.
